The specific part of the movie I'm curious about is the senior
firefighter who makes a point of refusing to wear a gasmask when he is
in a burning building. I think the point was to show how "tough" this
character was. I'm no expert, but my uninformed common sense leads me
to suspect that a firefighter who doesn't wear a mask is like an
astronaut who tries to walk on the moon without a spacesuit --- more
"stupid" than "tough." Am I right about that, or do experienced
firefighters really learn to be able to work in a burning building
without a gas mask?
