'Woman In Black' Trailer Commentary: Beware, Daniel Radcliffe!
"What she would like is unknown, but she always returns: the threat of darkness, 'The Lady in Black.'" Now, in the event that haunting nursery rhyme echoed with a youthful child's voice does not send shivers lower your spine, possibly you do not have a pulse or possibly you are only a wee bit jaded through the horror movie scene. Frankly, MTV News deputy controlling editor Eric Ditzian and this writer, Movies Blog editor Josh Wigler, were built with a difficult time determining which approach we take to were feeling about this very question while recording our recent commentary about the "Lady in Black" trailer, which you'll watch within the video above. As our personal Aubrey Sitterson noted just a week ago, the "Lady in Black" trailer features a few of the creepiest things ever, including rhyming children's narration and blank-faced women in matching dresses. On one side, a clip is place-on in the make an effort to slip the bejeezus from the viewer this viewer, a minimum of though its approach to terror is, possibly, a little expected. Children speaking in eerie rhyme is definitely an basically guaranteed mode of horror travel at this time of the overall game. A mysterious figure showing up from behind the protagonist's shoulder, too, is certainly not new. But does the expected or, dare I only say it, the cliched always internet out as something not worthy in our time? Not with a lengthy shot. For me personally, as well as for many fans I expect, the actual wrinkle this is actually the addition of Daniel Radcliffe. Boy Who Resided, you aren't in Hogwarts any longer: this movie looks to become a supernatural flick of the entirely unique color, and it will likely be quite interesting to determine the way the erstwhile "Harry Potter" star navigates a completely new genre having a bleaker tone compared to already decidedly dark "Deathly Hallows" conclusion. For additional of mine and Eric's ideas about the "Lady in Black" trailer, click on the video towards the top of the publish. Jennifer has spoken before about her joy over being a mom, telling Parents magazine in 2009 that it opened her heart. The best part of being a mom is the kid herself that you get to have this little person be your friend and hang out with you (and drive you crazy!), she told the mag at the time. Obviously your life changes and your heart expands, and its something you cant even put into words without sounding incredibly sentimental and cliched both of which I am! But what it really is, is this new being is there, which is just the most fun ever. While pregnant with Seraphina, Jennifer said she used it as an excuse to enjoy more sweets. I always have cravings, she also told Parents magazine. It doesnt matter if Im pregnant or not! I use pregnancy as an excuse to say Im craving ice cream and chocolate, but really, thats just me. Jennifer spent this past weekend promoting her new film The Odd Life of Timothy Green, co-starring Warriors Joel Edgerton at Disneys D23 Expo in Anaheim, Calif. Copyright 2011 by NBC Universal, Inc. Surprise Court Changes Ending on West Memphis Three Doc
Where do you turn if you are a set of filmmakers who've adopted an underlying cause for fifteen years, made two films protecting a trio of males you felt have been wrongly charged of murder, possess a third film almost within the can, and occasions meet up with you? Well, you race to include a brand new ending -- a contented one, you hope. This is the scenario facing Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky, who co-directed 'Paradise Lost: The Kid Killings at Robin Hood Hills' (1996) and 'Paradise Lost 2: Revelations' (2000), which recorded the trial and questionable convictions of three teens for that grisly killings of three 8-year-old boys in 1993 in West Memphis, Arkansas. Right before the 3rd film, 'Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory,' was set to unspool in the Toronto Worldwide and New You are able to Film Festivals -- before a premiere on Cinemax in November -- word came lower that the judge has known as an unexpected hearing for Friday in regards to the trio. Bin Laden Filmmakers Kathryn Bigelow, Mark Boal Shoot Back at Republican Congressman
Filmmakers Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal have responded to a Republican congressman who is demanding an investigation into whether the Obama administration leaked classified information to them for use in their upcoming film about the hunt for Osama bin Laden. The Hurt Locker director and writer say that their new movie will present "an American triumph, both heroic and non-partisan," adding "there is no basis to suggest that our film will represent this enormous victory otherwise."our editor recommendsKathryn Bigelow's Navy Seal Team 6 Film to Hit Theaters in 2012Already-Written Book About Navy Seal Group That Killed Osama Bin Laden Suddenly HotNavy Fights Disney for 'Seal Team 6' TrademarkHow Will Osama Bin Laden Death Impact Kathryn Bigelow's 'Kill Bin Laden' Movie? In a letter to the defense department inspector general and the CIA inspector general, U.S. Rep. Peter King (R-NY), who is the chairman of the committee on homeland security, said he was worried that classified information had been leaked to Bigelow, Boal and Sony Pictures, which is distributing the film in 2012. King wrote that "this alleged collaboration belies a desire of transparency in favor of a cinematographic view of history." Bigelow and Boal have now responded to King, issuing the following joint statement: "Our upcoming film project about the decade long pursuit of bin Laden has been in the works for many years and integrates the collective efforts of three administrations, including those of Presidents Clinton, Bush, and Obama, as well as the cooperative strategies and implementation by the Department of Defense and the Central Intelligence Agency. Indeed, the dangerous work of finding the world's most wanted man was carried out by individuals in the military and intelligence communities who put their lives at risk for the greater good without regard for political affiliation. This was an American triumph, both heroic and non-partisan, and there is no basis to suggest that our film will represent this enormous victory otherwise. Bigelow and Boal were prepping a SEALs movie involving the hunt for bin Laden when the terrorist was killed in late April by U.S. forces in a dramatic raid in Pakistan. The filmmakers quickly incorporated the event into the script and Sony picked up the project in May for release on October 12, 2012. But Rep. King, apparently responding to a Sunday column by NY Times writer Maureen Dowd that touted the government access Bigelow and Boal were being given, outlines several questions he wants answered: "Will a copy of this film be submitted to the military and CIA for pre-publication review, to determine if special operations tactics, techniques and procedures, or Agency intelligence sources and methods, would be revealed by its release? How was the attendance of filmmakers at a meeting with special operators and Agency officers at CIA Headquarters balanced against those officers' duties to maintain their covers? How will cover concerns be addressed going forward? What steps did the Administration take to ensure that no special operations tactics, techniques, and procedures were compromised during those meetings?" Washington and the military have long cooperated with Hollywood, regardless of which party holds power in the White House. The Pentagon even has an official liaison office in Los Angeles. White House spokesman Jay Carney, at the daily briefing on Wednesday, called the claims "ridiculous" and "simply false" and said the White House had provided information to the filmmakers only on the president's role in the raid. "When people, including you, in this room are working on articles, books, documentaries or movies that involve the President, ask to speak to administration officials, we do our best to accommodate them to make sure the facts are correct," Carney told reporters. "That is hardly a novel approach to the media. We do not discuss classified information. And I would hope that as we face a continued threat from terrorism, the House Committee on Homeland Security would have more important topics to discuss than a movie." Bigelow and Boal might have opened the door to the criticism. When the pair were working on the movie and in setting it up, much was made of Boal's access to military intelligence (he's a former war journalist), which was a selling point on the authenticity and the insidery feel the project was to showcase. Another Navy SEALs movie is headed to theaters in 2012. Act of Valor, directed by Mike "Mouse" McCoy and Scot Waugh, began life as a recruitment for the U.S. military's Naval Special Warfare Command, home of the elite Navy SEALs. That film, made with the full support of the Navy and featuring real SEALs, will be released by Relativity Media on Feb. 17. A spokesman for the committee on homeland security didn't have an immediate response to queries from THR about Act of Valor. Related Topics

CBS' Nina Tassler of Ashton Kutcher: 'I'm Just Happy to Be Where We Are Today'
CBS entertainment chief Nina Tassler greeted a press corps filled with questions Wednesday.our editor recommendsAshton Kutcher Confirms 'Two and a Half Men' Role; Says 'I Can't Replace Charlie Sheen''Two and a Half Men's' Chuck Lorre, Ashton Kutcher Meet (Photo)Charlie Sheen Won't Appear on 'Celebrity Big Brother'Ashton Kutcher's 'Two and a Half Men' Trailer Dwarfs Charlie Sheen's'CSI': Ted Danson Replaces Laurence Fishburne'CSI': Laurence Fishburne Leaving Show After 2 1/2 Seasons With the historically stable CBS heading into a transition period this fall with two of its top performers -- Two and a Half Men and CSI -- adopting new leads, the vast majority of the half hour panel at the network's Television Critics Association's tour stop was devoted to the lessons of Charlie Sheen's messy departure, the introduction of his replacement Ashton Kutcherand the passing of the torch from Laurence Fishburne to Ted Danson. But if Tassler is concerned about all of the shake-ups at her network, she wasn't letting on, calling the changes opportunities to garner new viewers. "Both actors ... have a huge fan base and are incredibly respected in the creative community," she added, noting that they are on shows that "are incredibly well produced." PHOTOS: The Quotable TCA: TV Press Tour Eavesdropper Addressing what she has learned from the Sheen saga, Tassler sighed, "Where do I begin?" before ticking off lessons like the importance of having an "extraordinary cast" and "extraordinary writing." The network chief used the opportunity to shower Kutcher with praise, noting that "you have someone who is committed to doing their job and is incredibly professional." As for Sheen, "I have no idea [whether Sheen can turn the corner with new Lionsgate project, Anger Management]. I know that he's moved on and ... his slate is full and he's a very busy man," she said, telling a scrum of reporters after her session that she hasn't been approached about Management. STORY: Ashton Kutcher Will Play Internet Billionaire on 'Two and a Half Men' Though much of the room was outwardly miffed about not having the new Men cast appear at TCA, Tassler earned some goodwill by revealing a select few tidbits about Kutcher's character: He'll be playing an Internet billionaire with a broken heart named Walden Schmidt, a name creator Chuck Lorre conceived. Tassler selected to keep other details under wraps -- including whether Sheen's character, Charlie Harper, would die -- suggesting that the sort of guessing game that surrounding the show is an important piece of the show's marketing. What she would cough up is that the show would be just as racy and irreverent as ever, claiming CBS' "programming standards and practices team is already on high alert." PHOTO: 'Two and a Half Men' New Promo Shot: Ashton Kutcher Sings Back Up? In the flurry of questions, Tassler did acknowledge that she had been present for Men's first table reading Monday and that you could "cut the air with a knife," a nod to both the delicate situation and pressure that is on this cast. She added after the panel how the show is being seen through a different lens now, reiterating her point that a new character will afford the show an opportunity to lure new viewers. "We're looking forward," she added. "I'm just happy to be where we are today." As for Danson, Tassler's team had looked at a number of actors for the role. "When his name came up we jumped at it," she said, arguing that he's "a huge TV star" with a "tremendous amount of charisma." When one journalist inquired whether CBS had considered plucking a younger actor to fill Fishburne's shoes, Tassler didn't skip a beat: "We went for the best actor." PHOTO: 'Two and a Half Men' Poster Features (Maybe) Naked Ashton Kutcher She used the remainder of her time on stage addressing a smattering of other questions, including what went wrong with the Criminal Minds' spinoff and the need for a fresher unscripted hit on the network's schedule. "I just don't think [Suspect Behavior] found its rhythm ... it didn't click," admitted Tassler of the former. "I think it has nothing to do with spinoffs ... a spinoff has to work on its own, and [this one] just didn't." As for the latter, Tassler is actively looking, acknowledging that she's very eager to get a noisy competition event show a la Dancing With the Stars, American Idol or The Voice on CBS' schedule. Of course, a CBS executive session wouldn't be complete without some reference to the show's older-skewing demographics, a sore spot for a network that is No. 1 among the big four in total viewers, upfront revenue and, impressively, Emmys. When another reporter asked Tassler how she felt when she heard ABC's Jimmy Kimmel or NBC's Joel McHale take shots at CBS' demos lately, she was ready. "I think they should stick to comedy ... and not worry about demos and ratings so much," she grinned, noting once again that CBS has more viewers in the coveted 18-to-49 demo than both ABC and NBC.
